Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data dev.log ("dev.log", "we", "us", or "our") collects, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the rights you have over it. We keep this short and plain because privacy by default is a core promise of the product.

1. Who we are

dev.log is a work-logging product (a personal contribution graph for your whole work life) operated by App Tube d.o.o., reg. no. 21806480, a company registered in Novi Sad, Serbia ("we"). We are the data controller responsible for your personal data.

Questions about this policy or your data? Email support@getdevlog.app.

2. The data we collect

a. When you join the waitlist

  • Email address — so we can confirm your spot and notify you when dev.log opens.
  • Verification status & timestamps — we use double opt-in, so we record that you confirmed your email and when.

b. When you create an account and use the app

  • Account details — email address and authentication credentials.
  • Your log content — the entries, notes, wins, frustrations, "today I learned" items, tasks, and mood signals you choose to record.
  • Subscription details — your plan (Free, Pro, or Founding member) and billing status.
  • Founder profile — if you become a Founding member, an optional display name and short blurb you choose to show on the public Founders page.

c. Collected automatically

  • Technical & usage data — IP address, device/browser type, and server logs needed to operate the service, prevent abuse, and keep it secure.

We do not ask for or intentionally collect special categories of data (such as health, biometric, or government-ID data). Please don't put sensitive personal data into your log entries.

3. How we use your data

  • To operate the waitlist and tell you when dev.log is available.
  • To provide the service — store your logs, render your heatmap, and sync across your devices.
  • To process subscriptions and payments for Pro and Founding memberships.
  • To provide Pro features such as voice dictation and AI logging/recaps (see Section 5).
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fraud, and debug problems.
  • To send you essential service emails (verification, account, billing, and important changes).
  • To comply with our legal obligations.

4. Legal bases for processing

We process your personal data under the following legal bases (GDPR Art. 6):

  • Contract — to provide the account, the app, and the subscription you signed up for.
  • Consent — to add you to the waitlist and send you waitlist/launch emails (you can withdraw at any time).
  • Legitimate interests — to secure the service, prevent abuse, and improve reliability, balanced against your rights.
  • Legal obligation — to keep records we are legally required to retain (e.g. tax/accounting for payments).

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data, and we never show your private logs to anyone — including your employer. We share data only with the service providers (processors) we need to run dev.log:

ProviderPurpose
Creem (creem.io)Payment processing and merchant-of-record for Pro and Founding-member subscriptions.
Zoho MailSending transactional and waitlist email (verification, account, billing).
CloudflareDNS, CDN, and protection against abuse.
Hosting providerServer hosting and database storage for the application.
AI provider (Pro features)Processing text you submit to AI logging/recap features to generate structured entries and summaries.

For Pro AI features, the text you choose to send is transmitted to our AI provider solely to produce your entries or recap and return the result to you. We do not use your private log content to train our own models.

We may also disclose data if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of dev.log and its users.

6. International transfers

Some of our providers may process data outside your country, including outside the EEA. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your data.

7. Data retention

  • Waitlist email — kept until dev.log launches and you create (or decline) an account, or until you ask us to remove it.
  • Account & log data — kept for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain records by law (e.g. payment records).
  • Server logs — kept for a limited period for security and debugging.

8. Cookies

Our landing site uses only essential cookies/local storage required for the site and your session to work. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and obtain consent where required.

9. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate data;
  • delete your data ("right to be forgotten");
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time (e.g. unsubscribe from the waitlist).

To exercise any of these, email support@getdevlog.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and secure hosting — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your logs private and safe, and we will notify you of a breach where the law requires it.

11. Children

dev.log is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
